The B16,
A legend of 1600 engines, released years after the first legend,
produced by Toyota, the 4age.
The B16 released in ballades and civics from 1998-2000 in south Africa.
i'm not too clued up on Honda so correct me if i'm wrong.
Bore 81.0 x Stroke 77.4 mm
1595 cc , 160hp / 117.7 kw (170hp TYPE R)
Compression Ratio 10.2 (Type R, 10.8)

For people who don't know, the higher the number the short the ratios.
Note 4AGE
Inlet valve diameter - 29.5mm (32.0mm Formula Atlantic)
Exhaust valve diameter - 25.5mm (27.5mm Formula Atlantic)
Engine Bore: 81mm
Engine Stroke: 77mm
Compression Ratio 9.4:1(12.7:1 Formula Atlantic)
Intake Cam 232deg (320 Deg 10.7mm Lift Formula Atlantic )
Exhaust Cam 232deg (2304 Deg 10.7mm Lift Formula Atlantic)
What is formula Atlantic
its a gran prix style of racing, im not too sure on it exact but the 4AGE engine was built by hassel gren engineering in the states in conjunction , using a TRD valve train and Mahle Pistons custom crank and TRD Dry oil sump....
these are proper race cars and look just how close the VTEC B16 is too it?
the FA-4AGE made 240hp using 108octance fuel, 0-100 in 2.8s....
the vtec has the same bore, stroke, valve size is .5mm off, the vtec's cam lift is pure race spec, increasing the compression and cam duration will make the B16 one of the most powerful normally aspirated engines, due too the small displacement it will have a loss when it comes too power-to-weight...
could this recipe be the ultimate 1600 formula?
never the less its a street legal , production car featured in a mid range class....
its one of the closest engines with HIGH PERFORMANCES SPORTS technology, the 4age 20v is off same nature but something went wrong in its stock form lol.
for FWD lovers, a 2.0L Block with a B16Head ,upgraded cams, individual throttle bodies...i say you could be smiling every day in this car.
the B16 Design in stock form is unbeatable,
I would class it to have the highest tuned potential 1600cc car
brought too south africa.
Note on the stroke
Look at the B16 stoke, it has .4mm per cylinder on the stroke,
making the piston travel higher and off coarse higher compression.
thou the compression does depend on the piston height as well.
